Photoshop is a "raster" program, meaning that it is used to create images out of pixels (tiny dots of color and light.) Imagine all of our web graphics as pointillist paintings done by artists with microscopic paint brushes. Work done in Photoshop is appropriate for photo retouching, photo realism, and editing of graphics with photographic elements.
