At CCC I studied under several fantastic professors including David Higgins (one of the most spectacular oil painters in New York) and Margaret Brill. They inspired me to improve my fine art through hard work, and eventually encouraged me to progress to a college where I could focus on design.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) is one of the premier instructional schools for young art professionals in the nation. At SCAD I entered the high stress and competitive environment of art education. The world of art and design is a world where the very few most determined, skilled, and hard-working souls find available work and prosper. I built my portfolio there with leading members of the community like Fathi Bakkhoush and Louis Turner Baker. Under professor Baker I participated in a project to rebrand Imperial Sugar products that garnered recognition for myself and my "Universitile Design" team.
During my first collegiate experience I worked to redesign the team websites for the Martin Weidmann and Kathryn Boor laboratories at Cornell University. This began my first experience as a professional web designer, learning about site structure and browser compatability way back in 2001.
SCAD offers its student body the opportunity to participate in a variety of community outreach programs and events. Staff members recognized my leadership abilities and suggested that I serve as the director of "Service Opportunities for Students," the office that coordinates these outreach programs and serves as the interface between the student body and the community of Savannah, GA.
After graduation from SCAD I sought local employment in the web industry. I was found and hired by Sysconn to serve as the Director of Internet Operations. This position required the juggling of mulitiple design projects while communicating with Systems Connect's extensive client base. During my employment under General (Ret.) St.Arnaud, I learned about sucessful marketing and business management.
After my move to Austin, I sought employment at a similar small firm environment to Systems Connect. I was hired as a web designer for WEBii, where I created dozens of internal and external design projects, including the WEBii billboard that can be seen on I-35 in Austin. At WEBii I taught myself to be more technically proficient with CMS software like Wordpress, Joomla!, and Drupal. My confidence with these products allows me to install and modify the programs to fit the needs of any client.
Currently working for Special Audience, a marketing firm here in south Austin doing both print and web design work
